Best Buddies Illinois is looking for a few good volunteers in the far north side neighborhoods of Edgewater, Andersonville and Rogers Park. The organization provides various programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They’re looking for volunteers who would like to be a “buddy” to a current participant, whereby one can have a positive impact on someone’s life simply by sharing their time with a new friend.
Volunteers are asked to spend at least 4 hours per month with their buddy, going to movies, hanging out, watching sports, etc. Participants and volunteers are matched to create a positive peer relationship for both parties by considering such factors as age, gender, location and common interests.
