Did our Earth Day happy hour bring out your green thumb? If so, why not join the Rogers Park Garden Group?
The Rogers Park Gardening Group began in February 2007 when a few local residents got together to see if it would be possible to form a garden group in Rogers Park. In April 2007 the RPGG launched its first public meeting and since then has held meetings or events monthly between April and October, overseen several large community garden projects, has underwritten smaller Adopt-a-Public Way endeavors, and has grown to over 170 members.

Yesterday, at The Morgan Earth Month Happy Hour event, we made mini apartment herb gardens. It is quite easy and allows you access to fresh herbs right in your own home! All you need is a reused jar or can, soil, and seeds. First, fill your jar with soil. You can also place rocks or broken pieces of a clay pot at the bottom of the jar or can, if you desire. Then fill your container with soil. Plant your seeds about a 1/4″ from the top. You can water them with a small amount of water or you can use a spritzer bottle.
