This evening at 10pm the Thorndale El stop will close as a part of the Red Ahead Initiative to make track repairs, upgrades, and to improve certain El stops along the red line. The stop will be closed for approximately 6 weeks while the construction takes place. Improvements include but are not limited to concrete repairs, painting, sealing, and coating of the viaduct, upgraded lighting , new windows, doors, and exterior lighting on the station house, sidewalk repairs and new bike racks outside of the station house.
Street closures from Broadway to Winthrop on Thorndale Avenue will also take place sporadically, however access to local businesses will continue through construction.
