This year, DOZE GREEN is featured as one of the Rogers Park Mile of Murals artists.
“Doze Green was born and raised in the upper west side of Manhattan, New York City and was one of the pioneers of the Hip-Hop culture. He first started writing graffiti in his neighborhood in 1974, and started painting subway trains in 1976. He joined the Rock Steady Crew who were pioneers of a new style of dance known as breakdancing or B-Boying. Since then, Doze Green has become a proponent of the avant-garde “fusionistic” art movement. Best known for his characters, Doze Green has concentrated on canvases that blend wildstyle techniques with metaphysical concepts.” (Description from The Rogers Park Business Alliance)
DOZE GREEN’S mural is called “The Digital Frontier” and is located on Glenwood Avenue between Morse and Farwell. Stop by and check it out.
The Mile of Murals project is sponsored by the Rogers Park Business Alliance and the Clark/Morse/Glenwood Special Service Area (SSA#24). For more information, visit www.mileofmurals.com.
